What You Can Do

Ringling Bros. has reason to worry: Animal circus attendance has been falling steadily for years as families seek less violent forms of entertainment.

• Enjoy only wonderful animal-free circuses, such as Circus Fantastico, Cirque du Soleil, and the Moscow State Circus, and steer clear of Ringling Bros. and other traveling shows that exploit animals.

• If Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is scheduled to visit your area, ask the local businesses to stop promoting the circus. Contact PETA’s Literature Department for our circus action pack.

Click here for tips on introducing legislation to ban animal circuses in your community. In Canada, 19 cities and provinces have banned animal acts, as have Israel, Sweden, Finland, Singapore, and Bogotá, Colombia. Fourteen American cities have said "no" to animal circuses, and many more have enacted strict ordinances on the treatment of animals in traveling shows.
