Shrine Circus: Every Ticket Funds Cruelty to Animals

Elephant Attacks Handler at Ringling’s Breeding Compound
On April 13, an elephant handler was trampled and critically injured by an elephant at Ringling’s breeding center in Polk City, Fla. Injuries and deaths resulting from altercations between circus handlers and animals are not uncommon in the circus industry.

A California kindergartener was attacked by a tiger taken to his school, yet California schools continue to host big-cat displays. PETA is urging the California Department of Education to discourage exotic-animal displays in California schools.

Ringling Breeds Misery
Baby elephants born through Ringling’s captive-breeding program suffer death, injuries, beatings, premature separation from their mothers, illness, and a cruel birthing process. PETA is calling on the USDA to strengthen protection for baby elephants.
